Signing Up with SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail

With SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce, you can access and update relevant Salesforce data like contacts or accounts right from your Gmail mailbox. To bring Salesforce context to Gmail, you need to add the SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail extension to your Chrome browser. After installing the extension, please refer to Using SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail for information on how to use SmartCloud Connect with Gmail.

Note:
SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail has the following limitations:

  • Only the Google Chrome browser is supported.

To start using SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail, do the following:

 Add the SmartCloud Connect extension to Google Chrome

To add the SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce extension to the Chrome browser, do the following:

  1. In your Google Chrome browser, click this link.
  2. Click Add to Chrome. A dialog box will appear to show you data that the extension will be able to access.
  3. Click Add to grant the SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail extension access to your data and install the extension.

 Sign in to Gmail and grant SmartCloud Connect permission to access your Google Account

To grant SmartCloud permission to access your Google account, do the following:

  1. After signing in to Gmail, the SmartCloud Connect extension will appear in the pane on the right. In this pane, click Sign in to my Google account.
  2. In the Request for Permission dialog box, click Allow.

Note: If, for some reason, you no longer want SmartCloud Connect extension to access your Google account, you can revoke this permission by going to Apps connected to your account, selecting the extension and then clicking Remove.

 Authorize the SmartCloud Connect extension to access your Salesforce data

To give the SmartCloud Connect extension access to your Salesforce data, do the following:

  1. In the SmartCloud Connect extension, click Sign in to my Salesforce account. If you want to log in to the Salesforce sandbox (a copy of a production environment used for testing and development), click Sign in to Salesforce Sandbox.
  2. In the Login dialog box, enter your Salesforce credentials and click Log In (or, if you are logging in to the Sandbox, click Log in to Sandbox).
  3. You are now ready to use SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce in Gmail. For information on how to use the extension, see "Using SmartCloud Connect for Salesforce and Gmail".
